Hotel Hiwayhouse - Phoenix, AZ

This is a true gem - a motel with its own kiddie train! Motto is "All The Charm And Deep Down Comfort of the 90s But With Service And Convenience of Tomorrow". I think they mean 1890s. Surprised to see the 19th century invoked in the 1960s that way, am I right?

  1. Strangely, there are almost no kiddies on that train. I'm not convinced that it's not a way for customers to get to their cars or elsewhere. That parking lot looks huge.

  2. Look what I found. A great backgrounder on the chain. The train has been restored too and resides at the Arizona & Pacific Railroad. Very cool!

  3. Michael, that's awesome. Thanks for digging on that. I actually ordered this card thanks to a cool email I received from a Phoenix local who used to stay at these motels back in the 60s and 70s.
